What is better than pie for breakfast?! Better yet, what if you could have all the delicious flavors of apple pie for breakfast without all the guilt?! Well, here at JWG we like to have our cake (or pie) and eat it too! This recipe we’re about to share gives you the best of both worlds!

What are overnight oats, anyway?

-We’re glad you asked because overnight oats are super fast and easy to prep, you’ll definitely be adding this to your go-to breakfast recipes! Overnight oats are raw oats that soak in liquid overnight. The liquid softens the oats in the fridge while you sleep, no cooking or work involved! Just mix the raw oats with water or milk (We love using almond milk!) place in a jar or storage container, put in the fridge, wake up and enjoy! It’s that easy!

Not only are overnight oats easy, versatile, and fast to prepare, but what if we told you they also have major health benefits? Overnight oats have been proven to:

  • Increase digestibility- the longer/slower cooking process helps the starches to further breakdown. This increases your body’s ability to absorb its nutrients.
  • Aid in weight loss- oats have been proven to increase feelings of fullness, especially cooled starches such as overnight oats, allowing you to eat less throughout the day.
  • Boosts your daily fiber intake- oats are a proven source of soluble fiber, which reduces blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

If those health benefits aren’t convincing enough, overnight oats are a huge money saver- ingredients are inexpensive and you most likely already have them on hand. This easy breakfast is satisfying and great on the go! The warm flavor of cinnamon and the crisp fresh sliced apples are sure to liven up those cold fall mornings!

Give this recipe a try tonight, and enjoy a little taste of dessert for breakfast!
