Cinco de Mayo: Churro Bar

A Churro bar… why didn’t we think of this sooner?! Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, these Mexican fritters are what Cinco de Mayo dreams are made of… and now the star of your fiesta! You can make your own churros with this recipe, OR you can pick some up in our bakery (pro tip: they’re on sale this week).

Here are a few delicious glazes and toppings to get you started:

Glazes:

Orange: Stir together ¼ cup orange juice, 1 Tbsp. each melted butter and agave syrup, and if desired, 1 tsp. orange liqueur. Stir in 2 cups of powdered sugar until smooth.

Lime: Stir together ¼ cup lime juice and 1 Tbsp. each melted butter and agave syrup. Stir in 2 cups of powdered sugar until smooth.

Birthday Cake: Stir together ¼ cup whole milk and 1 Tbsp each melted butter and agave syrup. Stir in 2 cups of powdered sugar until smooth.

Mexican Chocolate: In medium bowl microwave 4 oz bittersweet chocolate pieces, ½ cup whole milk, 2 Tbsp. butter, 1Tbsp agave, 1 tsp. vanilla, and ½ tsp. ground cinnamon for 2 minutes or until melted and smooth, stirring every 30 seconds. Stir in 2 cups of powdered sugar until smooth.

Toppings:

Chopped pistachios, sprinkles, citrus zest, cereal, bacon, coconut flakes, crumbled cookies… We could go on forever here.. just follow your heart.
