Whether you're having a dinner party, BBQ or need a snack on your hike, foods and friends are at the center of life in Jackson. Food brings community members together, and here at the Jackson Whole Grocer we have lots of delicious foods for all of your occasions.
As Jackson's locally-owned grocery store we feel a strong commitment to our community. To that end, we re-invest a significant portion of our store's profits and a great deal of time and energy right back into our community every day to enrich it socially, economically and environmentally.
Through our sustainability efforts we have created a symbiotic relationship-we support our community, which in turn supports who we are. Currently, we're working with the Greater Yellowstone Partnership in their "Uncommon Sense" program. Through this program we hope to learn how other environmentally-focused businesses in the region are changing their practices to become more sustainable operations. Other efforts at Jackson Whole Grocer include a recycling and composting program, a community sustainability posting board outside the store, participation in the 10X10 "Lights Off" radio show on 89.1 KHOL, the CAST Reusable Bag Challenge, Slow Foods, RRR Business Leader, Jackson Hole Community Foundation and the EPA's Wastewise Program.
Through our Farmers' Market each Wednesday during the summer, we work with local growers to bring recently harvested local produce to your dinner tables. If you would like to meet the faces behind all of these great local products come celebrate with us during our annual Eco Fair and Harvest Festival events, or read about local producers in our Faces of Food program.
"Local," is a big word at the Jackson Whole Grocer. It means you are getting fresh tasty food, your consumer dollars are staying in our community and you are supporting small local producers. When you spend your money at locally owned businesses, that money stays right here. It doesn't leave the valley for places unknown, but instead gets reinvested in our community.
From the beginning we have worked with other local businesses-including Hole Fish, Choice Meats, and Holistic Habitat-to expand our store into the one you see today.
